Wénhuà as a Concept of the Chinese Civilization

Abstract

The article discusses the Chinese notion of wénhuà (culture). The author focuses on the historical period in which this lexical unit was a set phrase meaning “civil policy”. He attempts to examine the content of this phrase and the extent to which it might be nationally specific.
