(Non)Monetary Consumption in the Anti-Capitalist Youth Milieu: An Experience of Field Study of Anarchists

Abstract

Practices of non-monetary consumption are directly related to the idea of anti-capitalist protest which is increasingly gaining popularity among those who are involved in the subcultural/solidary milieu of anarchistically oriented activism. The article discusses the various techniques of resisting the capitalist economic model practiced by anarchists. These practices, which are exclusive to the solidarity members, shape an enclosed cultural space within which the relevance of money wanes while the social capital attains the primary value.
