Abstract
The article discusses the descriptions of the Others’ food in travel tales of the early 19th century and the present. The sources used for the study are notes of early 19 th century travelers and interviews with present day tourists. The author attempts to uncover interpretation schemes that are employed in conceptualizations of the Other’s food in different cultural settings.
