Abstract
The article describes the contribution to ethnographic studies of the Russian Far East made by the scholar, archivist and higher school professor A.P. Georgievskii (1888-1955) who came to Vladivostok during the Civil War in Russia along with other refugees. His multi-year research in the region resulted in the comprehensive monograph “Russians in the Far East” published in Vladivostok in 1926-1932. This work reflected the scholar’s broad interests (linguistics, ethnography, archival studies, history) and represented the first experience in linguistic-ethnographic analysis of the Slavonic population, which remains the most complete general study in the area to date.
