Abstract
Two well-known archaeological sites, Stonehenge in England and Arkaim in Russia, are analyzed as centers of very intensive religious activity. The author studies how a center of magic power emerges, what its main characteristics are, what makes it attractive for the general public, what sorts of myths and beliefs are developed there, what is the composition of its pilgrims and devotees, and what spiritual leaders teach there. New religious manifestations are discussed with respect to esotericism and nationalism.
