Abstract

A range of neologisms, such as bioindustry, ecological awareness, and ethical consumption, have made their way into society and scholarship in the 21st century. The article attempts to examine the contexts surrounding these notions in Austria and Russia. Drawing both on the interviews with consumers and producers of ecological products and on other available sources, the author traces the impact of bioindustry on large corporations, consumer awareness, farming, and the peasant way of life.
