Abstract
Drawing on linguistic, ethnographic, and art data, the article attempts to inquire into historial links between Chuvash’s ancestors and Ugrian peoples. The time period under consideration spans the first millennium A.D. For format reasons, the article presents a condensed version of the inquiry which omits detailed consideration of ethnonyms, historical, geographical, physical anthropological, archaeological, religious, and folklore aspects, as well as discussion of hypotheses about Ugrian roots of the Huns, Dingling, Esegel, Visi, and Bashkir.
