Abstract
The article discusses the ways in which the ethnic aspect is manifested in the monuments of the Levashovo Memorial Cemetery (the burial place of people executed during the Great Purge campaign). The author examines the Byelorussian funeral service as a particular case of honoring the memorial place. She provides interpretations of the case from the viewpoint of theories of ethnicity.
