Caroling During the Harvest (Drawn on Data from the Southwestern Historical-Ethnographic Area of Ukraine)

Abstract

This article discusses one of the most vital elements of the traditional Ukrainian culture: the calendar ritualism. Drawing on ethnographic field data, the author describes and analyzes the custom of caroling during the harvest season, which has not received sufficient attention in scholarly literature.
