Abstract

The article aims at exploring a wider variety sources, refining the typology of cenotaphs, examining their religious and regional specificities as well as particularities of notions and practices related to funeral services, and analyzing the factors that shaped the new stage in the development of the phe-nomenon during the mid-1990s. The study draws on field research conducted by the authors during the three field trips undertaken in July and August 2013.
