Abstract
The article attempts to systematize the presently available versions of the plot from folktales about snakes, related to the types 672 and 673 according to the Aarne – Thompson tale type index; a number of those are not included either in the Aarne – Thompson index or the newer Uther index. By analyzing the plot structure, the author suggests a more detailed and convenient classifi cation sys-tem for the plots of the type considered, and demonstrates folktales whose plots appear close to the types 672 and 673 in the Aarne – Thompson index.
