Abstract

Kazakhstan, in its migration exchange with Central Asian countries, has had a positive migration balance within the past two decades and has in a certain way been a center of the regional migration system. Migration currents of diverse kinds converge here. Migrations of the ethnic Kazakh are of particular importance. The emigration from Kazakhstan to Central Asian countries is characterized by the shrinkage of numbers of those exiting the country. The authors point to the ethnic character both of emigration and immigration processes, which lead to a transformation of the ethnic structure of Kazakhstans population.
