Abstract
The article analyzes the present-day cultural processes related to the introduction of traditional agricultural celebrations and rites in the realm of social-political life during the last two decades. The analysis focuses on the Qorban rite which is conducted by the Society of the Besermyan People as having an ethnic importance and associated with agrarian cults and spring-summer celebrations of the folk calendar but attached a social-political character. Special attention is paid to the issue of transformation of the tradition and its adaptation to the reality and objectives of the present day. The article is based on the author’s own field data.
