Abstract

The article is an introduction to the issue’s special section on “Traditional Celebrations of Peoples of Russia”. The discussion aims to defi ne the priorities of traditionalist ethnic-cultural challenges as viewed through the specter of holiday and celebration culture at the turn of the centuries. Under examination are a variety of celebrations that have become representative of national identities or ways of people’s consolidation during the timeframe considered.
