Member of the Finno-Ugric Society, recipient of the medal “For the contribution to the implementation of the state policy in the area of scientific and technological development” awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.  Recipient of the award of the Hungarian Cross of Merit. Member of the Committee on Higher Education in History at the Russian Historical Society. Author of over 200 academic publications. Editor-in-chief of Ezhegodnik finno-ugorskikh issledovanii (Annual of Finno-Ugric Studies). Principal investigator of multiple academic research projects including programs in basic and applied research conducted by the Russian Academy of Sciences and supported by the Russian State Foundation and Russian Foundation for Basic Research. Acting expert on the committees of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian State Foundation. Scholarly interests: history of ethnology, studies of ethnic policies and politics, Finno-Ugric ethnographic research.
