Since 1981 on the staff of the Institute of Ethnography, Russian Academy of Sciences (Vice Director in 2000-2004, Director since 2005). Member of administration of the Association of Ethnographers and Anthropologists of Russia. Scholarly interests: ethnology and history of the Balkans, ethnic relations, ethnic conflict, multicultural education, policies toward the youth, intercultural communication. Author of Osobennosti povedeniia i povsednevnogo uklada zhizni russkikh (2009, in Russian); Traditsii i innovatsii v sotsionormativnoi kul’ture (2008, in Russian); Tolerantnost’ i kul’turnaia traditsiia (2002, in Russian); Natsional’nye men’shinstva v stranakh Vostochnoi Evropy v 90-e gody: poisk mirnykh reshenii (1995, in Russian); and others.
