Abstract
The article is based on field materials collected by the author as well as the elaborated database on traditions related to dwelling practices of Lipovans and Nekrasovites from Russia, Moldova, Southern Ukraine and Romania. A house of an Old Believer is shown as an object of material culture within the system of mythological beliefs embodied by means of rituals. The author analyzes similarities and differences in dwelling practices of micro-groups of Lipovans and Nekrasovites in different regions on religious and regional levels. The author discusses the contemporary state of traditional practices, the most stable and essential elements of the latter, as well as the mechanisms determining their preservation.
