Abstract
The article focuses on the relationships between Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan and their co-ethnics in Nagorno-Karabakh. The author discusses collisions arising as a result of cultural interactions in the context of diminishing resources in the hostsociety, social factors propelling either alienation or rapport between members of different strata of the same ethnic group, and the specific ways in which new identities are constructed and old reconstructed among the refugees seeking to adapt to the new conditions of life.
