The article delineates the stages of development of the Turko-Tatar direction of ethnology in Tatarstan and examines the outcomes of research and publication activities of the Ethnology Department of the Mardjani Institute of History, Tatarstan Academy of Sciences. The article is intended to acknowledge the 25 th anniversary of the Ethnology Department.
