Abstract
The article discusses the major cycles and stages of marriage rites among the Greben Cossacks. These rites have reflected the specific ways in which that group of Cossacks was formed and developed, as well as the results of its interaction with neighbor peoples: on the one hand, the Greben marriage manifests similarities to Russian rites; on the other, it was influenced and shaped by the Cossacks’ military style of everyday life and age-long coexistence with Turkic/Caucasus peoples.
