Abstract
The article discusses the transformation of space of the fishing and hunting economy, caused by the industrial destruction. I examine the problem of relationship between the urban (working) and the rural population, taking the case of the Nanai of the Lower Amur area. The native population lives in the industrial areas including the Komsomolsk, Amursk, Solnechny settlements. I trace the reconstruction of the Nanai traditional space, taking into account both natural factors and Soviet ideological attitudes, in the context of value changes, positioning vis-a-vis others, and strategies and tactics of developing the environment.
