Abstract
The introductory article discusses the latest archival research that is presented in the account by M.M. Kerimova, which casts light on the foundation date of Etnograficheskoe obozrenie and the question of whether the Etnografiia (later Sovetskaia etnografiia) journal was a direct successor to the nineteenth-century edition bearing the Etnograficheskoe obozrenie title.
